Guided Session #6: Compositional Thermal Option
• Rub
GS06 - 12/22
[6150 ft-6250 ft] as shown on figure C01.19. As we are going to stop production after one
year, set the corresponding date for ‘Closing time’ as 31/12/2011.
Note:
We could have alternatively set a zero production rate constraint from this date,
however this solution would have allowed crossflow throughout the open perforations. To
prevent it, we close the perforations. In this case the temperature that appears in the well logs
after the perforations have been closed is the temperature of the reservoir cell connecting the
perforations.
Select now the Injector and set its perforations in the range [6350 ft-6450 ft] with an opening
time as 01/01/2012 and a closing time as 31/12/2012.

For each well, you might check that the perforations are defined in the initial oil/water zone for
the producer/injector by clicking on the icon in the ‘Cross-section view’ tab to see the initial
fluid contacts. Click now on ‘OK’ to validate.
