Guided Session #6: Compositional Thermal Option
• Rub
GS06 - 22/22
C01.7
Concluding remarks
The use of the Compositional/Thermal option in Rubis Prototype should be made with care and
special attention should be put onto the input parameters and more specifically onto:
9
The chosen ‘Reference Initial Pressure’. At the corresponding geothermal temperature,
it must lie within the critical point loci of all possible mixtures of the chosen
components. Rubis does not check if this input is consistent. Inconsistent input would
lead to inconsistent results and/or to numerical convergence issues.
9
The minimum time step might need to be reduced for problems involving small grid
cells where phase might appear/disappear.
9
The full well model should be used in order to provide consistent results.
