Guided Session #6: Compositional Thermal Option
• Rub
GS06 - 21/22
To better visualize the warm-back effect, we re-run this example using a small upscaling ratio
(0.05) for the gridding only around the
injector
in order for the connecting reservoir cell to be
closer to the wellbore sand face. The corresponding results are presented on figure C01.35
while the temperature evolution around the injector can be visualized on figure C01.36. Note
however that such run involves approximately 4500 grid cells and very small cells around the
injector, it is hence much more CPU consuming that the base case presented here and is
shown here for illustration only.
Fig. C01.35 • Temperature profiles at the injector
during injection and after injection has stopped. No upscaling
Fig. C01.36 • Temperature profiles around the injector at different times
(From left to right: 11/01/2010, 21/01/2012 and 19/12/2012). No upscaling
At the end of the simulation, various numerical results are provided as well as the total mass
balance error per component. These will obviously be dependent on the numerical parameters
chosen for the simulation.
