Guided Session #6: Compositional Thermal Option
• Rub
GS06 - 17/22
In the ‘Time settings’ tab, set the starting date to ‘01/01/2011’ and ‘run until’ to ‘31/12/2013’.
We are going to use the default value for the ‘minimum time step’. In thermal context with
multiphase runs, one might need to reduce this value, typically with cells with small sizes (as
would be the case if we were using a small upscaling fraction) where a phase might
appear/disappear (due to vaporization, condensation or mobilisation from/to a cell nearby).
The tab ‘Numerical settings’ allows the user to tune the numerical parameters, including
tolerance parameters for convergence. We will keep the default values.
Click now on ‘Results’, keep standard outputs for the producer and add outputs for the ‘Result
logs’, check ‘qo’, ‘qg’, ‘T’ and ‘P’ as illustrated on figure C01.27.
Check the ‘Geometric progression’ box to get an adequate output time interval, keep the
default values.
Perform the same operation for the injector selecting ‘qw’, ‘T’ and ‘P’ for the ‘Result logs’.

Select next ‘Field results’, check all outputs and set the time period as 1000 hours as
illustrated on figure C01.28.
